60 Days to House Completion
Posted by kim on July 25, 2006
Building a House is Fun. Selling a house on the other hand is not. I already had a busy weekend planned, so putting my current house up for sale just added to the chaos. Now I have to keep it clean at all times and leave at the drop of a hat if someone wants to look at it. Nothing like being kicked out of your own house. I guess I should be glad that so many people are interested. The realtor added a clause that I want to remain living here for 60 days so I won’t need to find temporary housing if it sells before my house is built.
And to add to the busyness, I got a virus on my main PC! I was visiting some freebie site yesterday that was obviously infected, and my McAfee went nuts on me. It couldn’t delete the viruses and spyware being downloaded fast enough. I ended up taking it in to the “Computer Doctor” and should be able to pick it up later today. They said it was a good thing I brought it in so soon or I would have lost all my saved data. I like my laptop, but sure miss my PC.
Time to go up to the new house and tell them where I want duct-work. Decisions. Decisions.

Get this. $107 later, the “Computer Doctors” get the viruses off my PC, along with blocking all ads (ie affiliate links). Excuse me, I need to work. So I play around and finally figure out how to edit the blocked URLs. But, they inserted their own “ad” by adding “By Computer Doctors… phone number…blah blah” at the top of ALL my IE Browsers. And I cannot figure out how to get rid of it. Of course now that I’m a little upset, they will not return my phone calls or emails…

You can get rid of the “By Computer Doctors… phone number…blah blah” by getting Spybot-S&D at http://www.spybot.info/en/download/index.html run it and go to the tools tab/IE Tweeks and type in what you want it to say, then click the apply button.

Worked like a charm, Michael – thanks much!
I thought about deleting the Computer Doctor URL from this site as I’m giving them free traffic, but I’d have to say it’s turning into negative publicity, especially when they won’t call or email me back.
They would really have to kiss my behind to get my business back.
