Salivating over Slava

I was first impressed with Nebraska Furniture Mart when I typed in NebraskaFurnitureMart.com to see their stores hours, and saw they owned the domain name NFM.com. Do you realize how much money 3-letter domain names are worth?! I wish I would have jumped on the domain band wagon 10 years ago. I see they’ve owned the domain name since 1995. I guess there are a few smart people in Nebraska.

Yesterday was a girls’ day out shopping in Omaha to take advantage of NFM’s 30 month – 0% interest Sale. In order to qualify for the deferred interest, one must possess a Nebraska Furniture Mart credit card. So, I applied – instant $10,000 credit line! Let the shopping begin.

Poor Slava, our cute Russian body-builder salesman, had to put up with us chicks flirting with him and asking a million questions (he wouldn’t test out the padded headboards with us). In 3 hours, I picked out a bedroom set (I lost mine in the divorce), kitchen table and chairs, hutch, curio cabinet, couch, chair, ottoman, and bar. Now I have to wait until November to have my new furniture all delivered to my new house in hickville. It should be worth the wait.

I don’t like having outstanding debt, though, so plan to use some of the profit of selling my house to pay for the furniture. The remaining amount, I’ll put towards my mortgage to bring the total down to 80% of the appraised value to avoid paying for PMI insurance.

What’s I’m Eating Now… a Cinnabon! I cannot make a trip to Omaha and not get a pack of Cinnabons to go. Man, this cream cheese frosting is delectable.

Are Green M&M’s Really Aphrodisiacal?

When did the color Hunter Green go out of style? And where was I when this happened? I think my family room in the basement looks quite nice with 2 of the walls painted Hunter Green, one Putnam Ivory, and the other (that houses the windows and walk-out patio doors) double rolled Decauter Buff and ivory. So, to bring the whole room together, I planned to purchase Hunter Green curtains for the windows.

That is if I could find some. I’ve looked in dozen of stores and searched online. I googled “Hunter Green”, and the top search was Gay Colors and Sexual Preferences: Hunter Green. WTH. Seems Sage Green has taken over as the New Green. And nobody told me.

So now I’m contemplating repainting. I just hate to see those 2 gallons of Hunter Green paint go to waste. Plus I’m soooo tired of painting. The cabinets for the wet bar are now in, so I’d have to tape and trim around them. (And my “entertainment sink” is not big enough for my liking – isn’t bigger better?)

The only place I’ve been able to find Hunter Green Curtains is on ebay. Obviously those sellers need to clear out inventory for in-fashion colors. At least I can get ‘em cheap.
