Salivating over Slava

I was first impressed with Nebraska Furniture Mart when I typed in NebraskaFurnitureMart.com to see their stores hours, and saw they owned the domain name NFM.com. Do you realize how much money 3-letter domain names are worth?! I wish I would have jumped on the domain band wagon 10 years ago. I see they’ve owned the domain name since 1995. I guess there are a few smart people in Nebraska.

Yesterday was a girls’ day out shopping in Omaha to take advantage of NFM’s 30 month – 0% interest Sale. In order to qualify for the deferred interest, one must possess a Nebraska Furniture Mart credit card. So, I applied – instant $10,000 credit line! Let the shopping begin.

Poor Slava, our cute Russian body-builder salesman, had to put up with us chicks flirting with him and asking a million questions (he wouldn’t test out the padded headboards with us). In 3 hours, I picked out a bedroom set (I lost mine in the divorce), kitchen table and chairs, hutch, curio cabinet, couch, chair, ottoman, and bar. Now I have to wait until November to have my new furniture all delivered to my new house in hickville. It should be worth the wait.

I don’t like having outstanding debt, though, so plan to use some of the profit of selling my house to pay for the furniture. The remaining amount, I’ll put towards my mortgage to bring the total down to 80% of the appraised value to avoid paying for PMI insurance.

What’s I’m Eating Now… a Cinnabon! I cannot make a trip to Omaha and not get a pack of Cinnabons to go. Man, this cream cheese frosting is delectable.

Good luck actually getting your furniture from Nebraska Furniture Mart. I just spent $3,000 there, and NOTHING was delivered properly, or on time. The worst part is, they don’t even apologize when you call (for the 10th time) to get it straightened out. It was my first, and last time shopping there.
