The Last Lecture

“We cannot change the cards we are dealt, just how we play the hand.”
–Randy Pausch
My friend, Andrew Wee, suggested this book to me after showing me a clip Randy’s Last Lecture on Oprah.com. I headed to Amazon and ordered the book immediately after watching the video, but it has been so popular that is was on back-order. Imagine my surprise when I received it in the mail a couple of days later! It wasn’t from Amazon, and it wasn’t from Andrew, so I was perplexed. Well, I did some research, and I had requested the book last month from the Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research website that was giving away 5000 free copies! To be honest, I request a lot of free books and if I don’t want to read them, I sell them on eBay or Half.com. Well, this seemed like a karmatic coincidence. The next day I told my aunt about the book ordeal, but never told her the name of it. She then said she was just given a book to read from a friend, and it was the same book! I could have read the whole thing in one night, but needed some sleep. I couldn’t wait to read the remaining of it the next night. I laughed. I cried. I prayed for Randy and his family. Really makes you think.
Randy is still alive fighting his cancer and even has a blog of his journey.
