Some Days Are A Total Waste of Makeup

Posted by kim 04.25.2007 9:42 pm in Incantations, Recommendations, Supplications

I never have been much of a book reader. I tend to start a book and never finish it. So when I finally did read a book in it’s entirety a couple of years ago, I was so proud of myself that I wrote a book review.

Well, it seems like I’ve been spending more and more time just sitting and waiting (ie the kids’ doctor appointments, airports, etc), and I can only read so many celebrity gossip magazines (after I read my Revenue magazine). So, I ordered a few “chic novels” (aka romantic comedies). Sure, they are all funny and mainly about a girl chasing a guy and living happily ever after in the end, but I’m tending to grow fond of them.

In the last month, I have read Exes and Ohs by Beth Kendrick and Stupid and Contagious by Caprice Crane. And this past weekend, while traveling to the Mile High City (no, I didn’t join the Mile High Club as I flew alone), I started to read A Total Waste of Makeup by Kim (great name) Gruenenfelder. And I’ve ear-marked a couple cool quotes I’ve read so far…

When it comes to finding a man in a bar, remember: the odds are good but the goods are odd.

Money can’t buy happiness. But it sure can rent it for awhile.

Good ones, eh? I’m now to read some more…

What I’m Listening to on iTunes: “Crazy Bitch” by Buck Cherry - I must confess I had an old boyfriend once tell me that song was written about me.

Gripe #2 My Plug-In Placements

Posted by kim 04.12.2007 6:06 pm in Habitations, Protestations

I honestly never even thought about where the light switches and plug-ins should be when the electrician asked me where I wanted them. So, it’s my fault for telling him to put them where he thought they should be. Obviously he doesn’t blow-dry or curl his hair often. :-)

In the bathrooms, the plug-ins are right above the vanities between the two sinks. So now, when I plug in my “hair appliances” the cords hang down and get tangled in the drawers. I wish I had them placed at both ends of the vanity to avoid tangles, and then also the mirror could have been installed flush to the vanity top. The guy that installed my mirrors asked if I wanted them flush, but it would have cost quite a bit more money to have the plug-in areas cut out of the mirrors, so I declined.

And I’m finding I wish I had light switches in different places, like the pantry switch, the dining room switches, my bedroom switches… Wish I could just switch them around! So much I have learned a little too late.

It’s Spring! Why is it Snowing?

This Monday, I made sure to make it to the Denver airport a little earlier than last time, although I still only had 5 minutes to spare before boarding as the security lines were so long. But I did sit by a gal with some cool Kenzie shoes.

While in Denver, Patrick and I went to the watch the Denver Nuggets vs the Dallas Mavericks (good NBA game). We also took Ice-Skating Lessons. I’ve never ice-skated in my life, so it was fun, and I only walked away with minor bumps and bruises. Afterwards, we went to the Blades of Glory movie. Will Ferrell is too funny. What made me feel old was a preview for the 20th anniversary of the Dirty Dancing Movie. That was 20 years ago? Ouch.
