Back to my Roots

Kiwanis Peanut Day

Growing up, I hated my brunette hair. My friends and I made our own concoctions of Sun-In with hydrogen peroxide and laid out in the sun (no tanning beds either) only to turn our brown hair into a bright burnt orange color.

While I’ve never accomplished a platinum blond look, I beg to differ that blondes have more fun. And what’s with the stigma that men prefer blondes anyway?  Do they really or is that just what society says?  Take Pamela Anderson for instance, I doubt men notice her hair first.

I recently had a conversation with a male friend of mine who admitted that he thought he was supposed to like blonds over brunettes, but when he was asked who his favorite looking actresses were, he named five of them that were all brunettes (ie Angelina Jolie, Ashley Judd, etc).  It was then that he realized he had only dated brunettes in his lifetime and ended up marrying a brunette.  He now confesses he prefers brunettes over blondes.

So since my blondish highlights were starting to grow out, I decided to dye all of my hair brunette again.  I have yet to get a gray hair (knock on wood), but the minute I do, I’ll be investing in Clairol.

P.S. My second choice for the title of this post was ”Nuts Selling Nuts” as today is our annual Kiwanis Peanut Day, and I just got back from peddling peanuts!
