–Randy Pausch
My friend, Andrew Wee, suggested this book to me after showing me a clip Randy’s Last Lecture on Oprah.com. I headed to Amazon and ordered the book immediately after watching the video, but it has been so popular that is was on back-order. Imagine my surprise when I received it in the mail a couple of days later! It wasn’t from Amazon, and it wasn’t from Andrew, so I was perplexed. Well, I did some research, and I had requested the book last month from the Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer Research website that was giving away 5000 free copies! To be honest, I request a lot of free books and if I don’t want to read them, I sell them on eBay or Half.com. Well, this seemed like a karmatic coincidence. The next day I told my aunt about the book ordeal, but never told her the name of it. She then said she was just given a book to read from a friend, and it was the same book! I could have read the whole thing in one night, but needed some sleep. I couldn’t wait to read the remaining of it the next night. I laughed. I cried. I prayed for Randy and his family. Really makes you think.
Randy is still alive fighting his cancer and even has a blog of his journey.

Wow. Just Wow. I just spent about 30 minutes reading Randy’s blog, & also looked at the research website. Had never heard of him or his book before, but will definitely be checking it out. His blog is so matter of fact. He has a beautiful family, & he is all about creating memories with them. He faces what appear to be facts, referring to the fact that his 2 youngest may not remember him. What an incredible man, & his wife must be pretty incredible also. Wish I could have sent for a free copy of his book, looks like it was a 2 day window of time that it was available from that site. Am so glad to have read about it here. I definitely need to read more about this man & his family. He has an incredible way of facing facts & making the most of each day. If I had just seen the book in a bookstore I wouldn’t have known anything about it. Thank you so much for including it here.

I think I’ll put this one on my list. Any help we can get to realize live is precious and fleeting and what is really important in life is a good thing!

From Wikipedia…
On June 26, 2008, Pausch indicated that he was considering stopping further chemotherapy because of the potential adverse side effects. He was, however, considering some immunuo-therapy based approaches.[2]
On July 24, 2008, on behalf of Pausch, his friend(anonymous) posted a message on Pausch’s webpage indicating cancer progression further than what was expected from recent PET scans and Pausch becoming more sick than ever. It was announced that his family had sent him into a hospice program - palliative care to those at the end of life.[3]
On July 25, 2008, it was announced by Diane Sawyer on Good Morning America that Randy Pausch had passed away the night before.[4]
– My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends and fans during this difficult time. His memory shall live on forever.
