Mackenzie Allen Philips’ youngest daughter, Missy, has been abducted during a family vacation, and evidence that she may have been brutally murdered is found in an abandoned shack deep in the Oregon wilderness. Four years later in the midst of his Great Sadness, Mack receives a suspicious note, apparently from God, inviting him back to that shack for a weekend. Against his better judgment he arrives at the shack on a wintry afternoon and walks back into his darkest nightmare. What he finds there will change Mack’s world forever.

  • I have to admit this is not the type of book I usually read, but was glad I did when my aunt recommended it. At first I thought it was a bit far-fetched as I tried to imagine God with the appearance of a big black woman, but the book really makes you think. I related some of the values to my personal life that I been wondering “why did God let this happen?” It book helped me justify some of my own “sadness” and forgive those that caused grief in my life.

    3. I read The Shack, and it was one of the best books I have ever read, I felt the feelings of the dad, kids, and mom. It was everything I would want God,Jesus, and the Holy Spirit to be, just that way, and although this was a story, I truly feel he captured the true essense of God. I was so drawn to the charcters, I found myself crying and smiling the entire book, at first from the sheer horror of what happened to his baby girl, then as the story proceeds I find my self crying and smiling at the amazing aspect of…what if?
I love it, I want to walk my spiritual walk that way, talking everyday to my savior, being so close as to know what the other is thinking without even talking! This book can change an entire generation, how we relate to each other, the rate at which we forgive each other. Almost a immediate forgiveness, if Jesus can immediatly forgive us, then what is holding us from instant forgiveness, and I am talking about day to day trival problems, I can see how hard it would be to forgive someone killing your daughter, thats a whole other realm of understanding and forgiving, in that case the parents just have to finally realize that holding the grudge is just physically hurting them, not the killer, and people in those situations have already suffered enough! So why go thru hurting theirselves even more, but takes a much higher plane of understanding, what unforgiveness does to the human body. 5 stars, a absolute must read!!!
